During my publication design course, I was asked to make 3 opening spreads for an magazine article. 

The first design I wanted to use an image to inspire my layout. I chose fonts that would mimic spray paint and used rotation and shearing to make the text appear as though it was on the wall.

For the second design, I wanted to have a more compact and dense design. The image informed color choice, and the overall layout, although less so than my first design. Framing the figure was key to the overall layout.

For the final design I wanted to create something more traditional but with character. I imagine this being the most practical design for a print magazine. I wanted to add some color to the spread with the yellow to contrast relatively desaturated image & provide contrast for the pull quote.
